Message from the Coordinating Principal

Dear Students, Teachers, Parents and Well Wishers,

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe during these challenging times for all Lankans!

As we come to the end of the Academic Year 2021/2022 I would like to give you a summary of what we have achieved throughout this year…

First of all I wish to make a very special announcement. And that is – Wycherley Gampaha, will very soon become a Cambridge Independent Examination Center. This will enable both our students and as well as other students in the Gampaha District to sit for Cambridge Examinations and practicals in our premises itself. I am sure you all will find this to be a very happy news!

We are also looking forward to introducing a variety of subjects in the upcoming Academic year including English Language, English Literature and Law for A-levels with fully experienced and qualified teachers.

March 2020 announced the arrival of Covid-19, which presented the greatest challenge ever! But despite the pandemic ending, we continued to upload content and maintain Google Classroom platform as a part of our blended learning strategy and smoothly progress our academics until the end, as we fully understood its augmented benefits and we made every effort to continue our physical education without interruption till June 30th, 2022.

Further, despite the pandemic hampering sports and other extra-curricular activities some of our active young heroes managed to achieve accolades even during the pandemic. Amongst the many, we have three noteworthy pupils that need to be individually acknowledged for their exceptional achievements during the past year. Scouts Lelum Dissanayake and Nirwan Marasinghe were awarded Presidents awards for their outstanding achievements. Athlete Nicole Fernando achieved the following at ISAC 2020 – 1st place 4 X 100 with a new meet record, 4 X 400 and 4 X 100 1st place at the 2020, U-20 National Youth Sports Festival, 1st place  in 400m at the 2020 Gampaha District Meet, Top 8 – 400ms at the 2021 National Athletics Trial, 5th place 800m and top 8 at the November, 2021 Asian youth meet Kuwait Final Selection, Finals in 100, 200 and 400m at the 2021 National Youth Meet, Gampaha and 2nd place in 100, 200 and 400m as well as 1st place in 4 x 100 and 4 x 400m in the open category at the 47th    Sports Festival 2022. We take this opportunity to congratulate all 3 of them on these exceptional achievements!  We are also certainly proud to say that we launched many new clubs and societies that functioned online during the pandemic.

With the end of the Academic Year 2021/2022, I also take the opportunity to congratulate the students who performed exceptionally this year receiving awards in our Annual Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony 2021/2022 for both academics and extra-curricular activities. And to other pupils, who did not get any awards, do not get discouraged. Work hard and efficiently! Your turn and day will come. If others can, you can too! Afterall learning and achievement is a journey. Things do not happen overnight! With great commitment some of you will go on to achieve great heights in life. We look forward to acknowledging you in the near future!

With that, I would like to finally wish all of our students a “Happy Holidays” and welcoming you back for our New Academic year 2022/2023 commencing on the 18th August 2022!
